Do you sometimes think of the sound of jazz as something that is not to your taste? It could simply be that you’ve never given it a try.
That’s why the Orbit has become such a huge success. They have the ethos of making jazz mainstream again, supporting the best local acts, giving them, the exposure that they deserve.
One of South Africa’s most dynamic bassists, Shane Cooper, returns to Joburg. This time with his new group MABUTA. Blending influences from jazz, world music, and electronic music, and pushing the limits of groove in every corner.
The band features Shane Cooper on bass and synth, Bokani Dyer on piano and synth, Marlon Witbooi on drums, Sisonke Xonti on tenor sax, and Robin Fassie-Kock on trumpet. They are running a crowd-funding campaign for the month of July to raise money to record an album later this year.
These shows will help contribute to that campaign, and supporters can choose from a variety of perks including pre-order CDs, vinyls, T-shirts, exclusive home concerts, and more!
